Chapter 162: Officially yours
Athan snapped in his reverie when Azrael probed again, doubting that the guy only visited to see his brother. "So, what brought you here? Do you have something to say? To me? Or should I call Knox?"
Athan hesitated. After a minute, he shook his head and announced, "Father asked to see Knox—
Azrael, "He’s sick."
Athan eyed him exasperatedly. He pursed his lips and finished his words, "I know. I was going to say Knox and you if you hadn’t cut me off. Seriously, will it kill you to let people finish talking? That kind of attitude is very rude. I advised you not to act like that in front of my father."
Azrael scoffed, "How sure are you that I will accept his invitation?"
"You won’t? Then, your relationship won’t progress. Anyway, he didn’t mention when; he just said that you’re welcome anytime you come and that...there will be no repeat of what happened yesterday," Athan reassured him.
Azrael chuckled deviously, not hiding his displeasure and mistrust at his words. He shrugged his shoulders and turned away, mumbling, "I tell Knox, but if he doesn’t want to come, then we won’t come."
Azrael, "You don’t have to rush it. He said that anytime he’s—
"What if Knox doesn’t want to see him anymore?" Azrael halted and glanced over his shoulder, giving Athan a challenging look. "Will he give his blessing even if we don’t see him? I’m sure you’ve already told him that Knox and I plan to marry. Is that why he wanted to see us?"
"What you said is very unlikely," Athan responded. Azrael’s face darkened, but he wasn’t frightened or threatened by his thickening pheromones or his dangerous glares at all. He calmly continued, "I meant about Knox not wanting to see our father anymore. And about the blessing, I’m not sure, and I haven’t told him. No. I won’t tell him. That is a matter that Knox should...tell him directly."
"I’m glad you’re still thinking straight, brother-in-law," Azrael smirked at the man.
