Chapter 109: What are my options?
Knox lowered his head. He stared at the floor blankly, his mind was preparing his heart for what would come next. His father wanted him to choose, and he had a feeling that would greatly affect him and Knoa.
He inhaled deeply, gathering the courage to continue. "You...told me to choose...what are my options?"
Nathaniel subtly smiled. His voice was strict but there was a hint of understanding and concern in it. "If you want to seek justice from that person, I can help you with that without batting an eyelash about Shawn’s situation. But if you want to stop to help your brother’s fiancé, it will be hard for me to agree to that, so I want a condition."
Knox gulped, "...what condition?"
Nathaniel sighed. He stood and walked to Knox. He stopped right before him and held his shoulder as he bore his eyes on him. There was sadness in his eyes, and Knox wasn’t blind to not see that.
His heart began to sink as soon as his father’s low voice came again, "Son, as I said, I wanted to protect you. That’s the last thing I wanted to do for Killian. I know he wanted you safe as well, away from these perilous situations. Azrael Del Valle is a dangerous one. Severe any connection you had with him. That’s all I ask."
Nathaniel saw his son’s eyes tremble and watered. He averted his gaze and gave him one more pat on the shoulder before deciding to leave. Even without hearing it, he already knew what Knox’s answer would be.
As he said, Knox and Killian were similar. They were both selfless and kind.
Knox was left in the room, standing like a stone statue, staring blankly at the wall. The tears that pooled at the corner of his eyes were threatening to fall if he so much as blinked.
