Chapter 72: Sleeping next to you
Knox closed his eyes again. His temples were still throbbing hard and his head felt so heavy. He could swear he saw his son looking down at him, so why did the room feel so silent and chilly? If KNoa was in his room, he should be jumping on his bed and shaking his shoulders nonstop to show him whatever proud creation he did.
’Wait...earlier...what happened...oh, I’m not in my room!’ he abruptly opened his eyes, widening at the realization. He was in the abroad for the launch! Then, who...? Quickly, his pupils shifted to the person sitting beside him who was emitting a chilly aura as freezing as the water at the North Pole.
He blinked twice, thinking he was just dreaming. Because why would the man appear in his dreams? They said you’ll dream of something and someone you’d been thinking about the whole day, but never did Azrael enter his mind during the times he was there. He was so busy he turned off his phone, so he won’t be disturbed by him.
’Did he get upset and think I’m avoiding him again? So, he’s visiting me in my dreams now?’ Knox thought to himself. A subtle smile broke in his lips as he gazed at Azrael’s face. He finds it amusing that the man was trying to act gentle and considerate, yet still couldn’t hide his innate crankiness and pettiness.
"Who’s Knoa?"
Azrael’s voice echoed in his ears. Knox stiffened. His face paled and his heart began pounding louder. Is this a dream where Azrael finds out about his son? He asked himself. His forehead broke into a cold sweat. Will he be able to tell him even in his dreams? And what would Azrael’s reaction be?
If Azrael smiled and rejoiced, then that would only be a projection of what Knox truly desired. Even if the guy had shown him time and time again his affection, Knox couldn’t be certain. Azrael was a man full of surprises and ambiguity. He hated omegas, he hated being deceived, and he hated Knox before, so Knox was afraid to accept everything he said or did for him.
At the back of his head, a part of him was telling him – ’He’s not sincere. He’s suspicious. He’s acting that way because he wants something from you.’
Getting drowned in those negative thoughts swirling inside him, the only thing he could do was put a considerable distance between them. It felt as though if he tried to swim above those thoughts and let Azrael rescue him, then he’d end up getting thrown into a much deeper pit instead.
That’s how much his distrust towards Azrael is. So, how could he trust him not to flip once he hears about Knoa?
Even in his dreams, he won’t tell it to him.
