Chapter 445: Hit-and-run Wedding
Back at home, the kitchen and living room were a mess, but the good kind of mess. Sanya stood by the dining table, arranging flowers in the centre while barking quick orders at the staff. Rain was in the kitchen, checking the oven for the second time and stirring a pot on the stove at the same time.
"Is the dessert done?" Sanya called out.
"Almost!" Rain shouted back. "Don’t rush perfection."
They had been working fast ever since Aunt Vernice called that morning. No warning. No hint. Just a single call: "I’m marrying Rock today. Prepare a small celebration. I’ll drag him if I have to."
And that was that. Sanya had nearly dropped her phone in shock but didn’t even get the chance to argue before the call ended. Now, she was scrambling to make everything look beautiful and cozy in just a few hours.
They had helpers, of course, but Rain and Sanya had both decided to personally oversee everything.
"Do you think the meat is enough?" Rain asked, popping her head in from the kitchen.
"We have enough food to feed two weddings," Sanya replied, looking around. "Don’t worry. Let’s just hope the groom doesn’t run away last minute."
Both girls laughed. Then Rain released a heavy sigh and said, "Father Rock is hesitating about the surgery, saying his body isn’t as healthy and young as Kelly’s. I keep telling him he needs to see Ivan first so they can monitor his condition and check if he’s already fit for surgery, just like they did with Kelly. But he keeps saying he’ll do it after the wedding, and that’s way too long."
"Yeah, and thank God Aunt Vernice is such a bold young lady! I can’t wait to tease her once they’re back," Sanya beamed.
Rain smiled, and the two quickly got back to work.
