Chapter 373: Rain’s Office
At the Prosecution Office, Rain was already preparing to leave work when Jane knocked on her office and said, "Prosecutor Lancaster, someone insisted on seeing you. She’s waiting at the greeting area. She’s Brenda Han, Prosecutor Han’s wife."
Rain frowned. Han had been one of Michael’s spies inside the prosecution office. Who would have thought? Her first encounter with him had been pleasant. He had even seemed nicer than Prosecutor Brown, Alexander’s man inside the prosecution. But then, looks could be deceiving.
"Let her in here then," she told Jane.
"Are you sure?" Jane reconfirmed, and Rain nodded with a reassuring smile. Jane left, and
Rain returned to her seat, quickly sending a message to Alexander that she would be delayed for a while.
Mrs. Han soon entered her office, startling Rain when she suddenly fell to her knees and cried out, "Please, help my husband! Someone is threatening him with my life and my son’s life, so he has no choice but to obey them. Please help Arthur not go to prison..."
Rain quickly got up from her chair to help the woman up. "Please don’t do that. Sit here properly," she said, guiding her to the nearest chair.
Mrs. Han sobbed, repeating, "My husband’s life is in danger, even in detention. Yesterday, he had a lot of bruises when I visited him. He’s not saying anything to keep me and our son safe, but I know well that he’s in danger."
Rain’s expression softened as she handed Mrs. Han a tissue, her mind already racing through possibilities. "Mrs. Han, I understand your fear, but I need to know everything if I’m going to help your husband. Michael is dead so who’s threatening him now? What exactly does this person or group want?"
