Chapter 357: And You’re Mine
Alexander stared at the ceiling, his thoughts a chaotic mix of desire and restraint. Sharing a bed with Rain was becoming increasingly challenging, especially with how effortlessly she drew his attention.
Last night, he’d struggled just the same, ultimately waiting for her to fall asleep before sneaking back in to hold her. It had been his small reprieve, her warmth soothing his inner turmoil.
But tonight, things were different.
"Are you already sleeping?" Rain’s soft voice broke through the silence.
"Not yet," he replied, his tone low as he tried to keep his emotions in check.
She shifted closer, and he felt her warmth radiate against him. His body stiffened involuntarily as she nudged closer, her presence dismantling the walls he had so carefully built. Turning to face her, he saw her smile... a gentle, inviting curve that tugged at something deep within him.
Before he could stop himself, his hand moved, caressing her cheek. Her skin was soft under his touch, and his gaze lingered on her lips, tempting and slightly parted.
He couldn’t resist anymore. Leaning in, he pressed his lips to hers. It wasn’t hurried or rushed, but it carried all the pent-up longing he’d been holding back. The taste of her ignited something within him, and for a brief moment, he allowed himself to savor it.
Then, with a heavy sigh, he pulled back, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her against his chest. Rain rested her head there, and the rhythmic beating of his heart filled her ears... erratic and loud, betraying the calm facade he tried to maintain.
