Chapter 315: I’ll Wait
A day later, after much pleading and assurance from Rain that she would follow the rules, the doctors finally allowed her to visit Alexander inside the ICU.
She was in a wheelchair, still weak from her injuries, but her resolve was stronger than ever.
Sanya wheeled her to the door, pausing just before entering. "Rain, remember, don’t overexert yourself. The machines monitor everything, so if his vitals spike, we’ll need to step out," Sanya reminded her gently.
Rain nodded, her eyes fixed on Alexander through the glass. "I understand. Thank you, Sanya."
The door slid open with a soft hiss, and the sterile scent of the ICU greeted her. Machines beeped rhythmically, and the sight of Alexander lying there, motionless, with tubes and monitors surrounding him, made her heart ache.
Tears welled in her eyes, but she blinked them away, refusing to break down again. Sanya parked her wheelchair beside the bed and quietly stepped out, giving her privacy.
Rain reached out, her trembling hand gently wrapping around Alexander’s. His skin was warm, a small comfort in the cold reality of the room.
"Alexander," she whispered, her voice quivering. "I’m here. I’ll always be here." She leaned forward, pressing a soft kiss to his hand, her tears spilling onto his skin. "You saved me. You always save me... but now it’s my turn. You have to come back to me, Alexander. I can’t do this without you."
She held his hand tightly, her thumb brushing over his knuckles. "Do you remember our promise? That no matter what happens, we’ll face everything together? You’ve kept that promise. Now, I need you to wake up so we can keep going... together."
