Surprise Marriage to a Billionaire

Chapter 308: Our Little Paradise

Michael did as she asked, wheeling Rain outside to the balcony himself. Rain bit her lower lip as she scanned her surroundings. It was clear they were at his private mansion, and she suspected the island itself was his personal property. Her sharp eyes caught the movement of armed guards stationed everywhere.

’The security is tight,’ she thought, keeping her expression neutral.

"Aren’t you supposed to be crippled?" she asked bluntly as he moved to sit on a chair beside her, angling himself to study her face.

He chuckled, leaning back casually. "Well, as you can see, I’m perfectly capable of walking. You don’t need to worry. I perform just fine in bed, too."

Rain wanted to vomit or maybe even poke him in his smug face, but she kept her composure. "You said I could talk to my father," she reminded him sharply.

"Oh, right. That slipped my mind," Michael replied with an exaggerated snap of his fingers. He pulled out his phone, made a call, and then held it to her ear. "Here. Talk to him as much as you want."

"Hello, Rain? How are you feeling?" Tim’s voice came through the line, and Rain felt her stomach churn. Her suspicions were confirmed. Her father had played a role in her abduction.

"I can’t remember anything," she said, her voice trembling as she kept up the pretense. "Take me back! I didn’t agree to this!"

"Just stay there and live a quiet life with Michael. Try to please him... you’ll stay alive that way." Her heart ached as the words spilled out, not because they were untrue, but because the betrayal cut so deeply. She swallowed the lump in her throat, unable to keep the bitterness from her next question. "Do you hate me this much?" she asked, the hurt in her voice genuine.
