Chapter 22: Elara Rowan
Faced with an overwhelming number of titles, he hesitated.
Where should he even begin?
Just as he stood there staring blankly at a plethora of books like a fool, a fair hand extended toward him, and offering a book:
"A Brief History of the World" by William M. Henry.
Seeing the book, he turned to look at the owner of the hand with a confused expression.
But before he could express his gratitude or confusion, he was stunned — the owner of the hand was actually his desk mate, that "nerd girl," and if he remembered correctly, her name was Elara Rowan.
Honestly, just hearing her name, you could already picture her as a soft, gentle, and quiet person. And she was exactly that — a gentle and quiet presence.
She was still wearing her simple, rather old clothes, but instead of looking crude, they gave her a modest and sincere appearance.
Right now, she was extending the book toward him with her gaze lowered, her long bangs partially veiling her face.
When he turned to face her, she visibly flinched before speaking in a barely audible voice.
"Here... t-this might help you."
