Chapter 203: Lesson Plan
It took a month after making his arrangements with Moshui - and getting an earful from Lumin about staying within budgets and his "idiotic choice of a fake given name" - for Kir to finish his projects.
He didn’t feel too bad about using Lumin for financing, since she clearly wanted something from him and had yet to make the exact nature of her sheltering him known.
Kiryu’s thoughts on the matter were summed up when he’d said "Watch, it’ll turn out she’s part of a cult awaiting the foretold arrival of the Foretold Star-Born He Of Two Minds About Everything who happens to be us."
"If that’s true, I swear I’m going to live out the rest of my days in the deepest dungeon I can find," Kir had shot back sardonically.
Whatever the truth was, Lumin had bartered her continued financing into Kir providing a lesson plan for what he would teach when the semester started in a month. And when Kir finally finished...
Lumin set down the syllabus Kir had designed - largely with the help of Kiryu, who had memories of teaching classes - and held her forehead.
"So you propose to teach magic... by not teaching magic... and in doing so challenge the underlying principles of the elementals, fundamental affinities, and magic itself..." She leaned back in her chair, staring at Kir, who was still standing next to the knick-knack-covered table where he’d just demonstrated numerous, basic principles.
Kir was standing before her in his wolfkin glamour, separated from her by two tables. The one demonstration that had broken her was the double-slit experiment, demonstrating the wave-particle duality of light.
"Seems about right, Honorable Chancellor," Kiryu said.
