Chapter 65 - 64: Desolation
"Come on, you’re married now, still thinking about the village belle, huh? Be careful, I’ll tell your wife when we get back," Gao Ran said.
"The village belle was my first love. My wife already knows about it. But she got married the year before last, and last year when my wife and I went back, we met her. She was pregnant and had gained a lot of weight, almost like a pig..." Huang Guozhong shook his head, looking disappointed.
"We’re talking about the girl Han Yi knows, why are you bringing up your village belle...? Hey, Han Yi, tell us how you met her," Gao Ran and Huang Guozhong looked at Han Yi mischievously.
Han Yi sat there, completely ignoring their conversation, his handsome face slightly furrowed. He lifted his wrist to check his watch.
Lin Wan returned to the store, glancing outside occasionally, afraid of missing Han Yi’s departure.
She wanted to grab him and ask which camp he was stationed at now and tell him she wanted to date him, but didn’t know how to start.
Over an hour passed like this, and as Lin Wan was tidying up the table, she saw Han Yi coming in with two others.
"Hello again, comrade," Gao Ran flashed a smile at Lin Wan.
Lin Wan smiled and nodded, "Please sit," and then asked Han Yi, "Would you like something to eat?"
Han Yi stared at her for a few moments, glanced at the menu on the wall, then ordered three meals. He sat down straight without intending to talk to Lin Wan.
Lin Wan was briefly dazed, turned away with a smile but felt a bit lost, yet she quickly resolved her feelings. Her relationship with Han Yi could, at most, be considered an acquaintance, just having crossed paths. Although she wanted to sit next to him and inquire about his situation over the past year, she knew that Han Yi didn’t like proactive girls, which would make him resentful.
