Chapter 10 - 9: Opening
In the family without status, being a beautiful woman abandoned by her husband, she always encountered some unscrupulous people. Once, she and her brother witnessed the village chief trying to do something to her mom.
Luckily, her Grandpa arrived just in time.
But not long after, Li Fugui falsely accused her Grandpa of stealing, and he was detained a few times. Grandpa was old and couldn’t withstand the stress, and within a year, he fell ill and passed away. Her Grandma was already weak and sickly, and with the poor harvests over the years, she was literally starved to death.
The family was left with just them, an orphaned mother-child pair, relying solely on Mom’s labor. Life was tight, and they were often gossiped about.
Now Mom and she had moved away from the village, no longer needing to heed some people’s idle chatter, not having to worry constantly about the gossipers.
"Mom, you just sit aside and collect the money. I can handle all this myself." Liang Hongmei couldn’t sit still and was anxious next to her.
"Mom’s worked all her life, and she’s really not quite adapting." Liang Hongmei stood hesitantly at the stall, watching as Lin Wan quickly sold a few pancakes.
Receiving a few cents here and there, feeling cheerful and steady inside.
After a few days, the businesses on the nearby streets knew that their family’s egg pancakes were delicious. Even when it’s not the market day, people would occasionally buy some to taste.
