Chapter 1379: Scared to Death
Having missed two meals in a row, even a body made of iron would find it hard to endure.
Her stomach growled with hunger, her stomach cramped intermittently. After thinking it through, she decided to go downstairs to get something to eat.
She didn’t call Olly.
Even though Olly claimed to be on call 24 hours a day, it was past three in the morning; she was probably already asleep.
There were people on duty at night, but by this time, usually there was nothing much happening, and those on duty had already dozed off.
At this moment, everything was quiet, so quiet that you could hear a pin drop.
As she reached the staircase landing, Scarlett Yates suddenly heard a commotion.
The sound came from downstairs.
Tap, tap, tap. The first thing she heard was the sound of a woman’s high heels, each step rhythmic and precise, the sharp heels tapping crisply and sharply on the smooth floor, echoing through the exceptionally silent night.
The sound grew closer and closer.
From where Scarlett was standing, she could see the entire layout of the hall downstairs.
So... when a stunning woman, dressed in a red coat, with wavy curls and gorgeous long legs, walked in arm in arm with Matthew Saxon, Scarlett noticed immediately.
Even wrapped in a long coat, it was clear that the woman had a great figure.
At least 175 cm tall, she wore a form-fitting black dress under the coat that accentuated her alluring curves.
Though her makeup was a bit heavy, it didn’t detract from her appearance in the least.
In fact, her striking looks suited the lavish makeup, making her even more captivating.
Her looks were breathtaking; she was the kind of beauty that amazed at first glance.
Yet, this 175 cm tall woman was clinging to Matthew Saxon like a demure little bird.
The woman was tall, but with the over 186 cm Matthew Saxon by her side, she really seemed delicate and demure.
Matthew Saxon was dressed in a long black coat, the light gray scarf around his neck held by the woman, as if she found it amusing, wrapping the other end around her own neck.
Both were wearing long coats, one black, one red, in almost the same style, resembling a couple’s outfit.
As she did this, Matthew Saxon glanced down at her, his brow furrowed slightly, his thin lips moving as if he wanted to say something.
Suddenly the woman let out an "ah," halted her steps, and lifted her slender, charming almond-shaped eyes in displeasure, staring directly at Scarlett Yates and frowned, "Young Master Saxon, is that your maid? Why does she look so strange, standing silently at the stairway watching us, it scared me to death."
Before Matthew Saxon could say anything, she tightened her brow further, complaining unhappily, "Look at her expression, she looks so unhappy, as if we were the ones disturbing her."
Everyone knows the Saxon Family’s prestigious status; even the maids in the house enjoy some of that prestige, carrying themselves with some haughty flair in front of ordinary people.
But that arrogance shouldn’t reach this level, right?
Upon encountering the employers, not even taking the initiative to greet them, and daring to look at them with such a cold gaze.
This is too outrageous.
Hearing the woman’s complaints, Matthew Saxon finally lifted his head expressionlessly, following the woman’s displeased gaze towards the spiral staircase.
