Will the Aloof Billionaire Divorce Today?

Chapter 1351: I Will Divorce You

"At that time, she was still so young, not very good at swimming, swept into the deep sea, how could she possibly have survived."

"We searched for a whole month but couldn’t find her. If she were really alive, how could there be no traces at all."

His handsome face seemed to be cloaked in a faint sadness, this aura of sorrow seeping into his eyes, clouding his pair of brilliant dark eyes.

His head was turned slightly to her, his handsome profile seemingly hidden in a misty haze, making it hard for Scarlett Yates to discern the emotions in his eyes.

She could only feel the aura of sadness emanating from him, his hoarse, remorseful voice continuing, "At the time, I could’ve saved her. If I acted quickly enough, maybe I could have brought her back."

Hearing the full weight of his guilt in his words, Scarlett Yates paused indifferently, her lips moved slightly, "Matthew Saxon, I want to ask you a question."

His eyes tightened slightly, he turned his head, his gaze once again shifting to her, "What do you want to ask?"

The sadness in his eyes hadn’t yet faded away, his half-narrowed, slender eyes dim and lifeless.

Scarlett Yates looked at him and softly said, "If Little Tail were still alive, what would you do?"

"You told me before, there was a certain agreement between you and her, that when she grew up, you would marry her. Was that just said in passing, or does it still hold true now?"

She knew she shouldn’t be entangled in these things.

Little Tail is already dead.

So, there really are no ’ifs.’ The things she hypothesized don’t stand, nor will they become reality.

She really doesn’t need to be concerned about a little girl who has been dead for so long.

But she couldn’t help but ask; if she didn’t ask clearly, she’d stifle herself to death.

Matthew Saxon was visibly stunned, his brows raised in surprise.

"If you don’t want to answer, you don’t have to," Scarlett Yates looked at him in silence for a few seconds, then added.

Matthew Saxon also remained silent for a while, looking at her with a complicated expression, "Why are you asking this?"

"It’s nothing, I just want to know. As I said, if you don’t want to answer, you can tell me."

"There’s nothing that’s unsayable." He looked at her for a while, his thin lips moved slightly, then he paused before speaking again in a soft voice, "If she were still alive, I would keep my promise."

He said it very straightforwardly, not the least bit roundabout or euphemistic.

With a clatter, Scarlett Yates seemed to hear the sound of her heart dropping into an icy pool.

The cold seeped instantly into her heart.

Her voice was dry, "If... if Little Tail were still alive now, and you found her, would you divorce me for her?"

If she didn’t ask these questions, would it be much better?

Little Tail is already dead, so these possibilities she mentioned don’t hold water, asking was pointless.

Matthew Saxon couldn’t possibly divorce her to marry someone who has already died.

Her voice was dry, each word seeming to squeeze out from between her teeth, appearing stiff and hoarse.

"Yes, I would divorce you."

Matthew Saxon didn’t remain silent for long.

It was probably a minute, maybe not even that, before he quickly made a decision.

"Scarlett Yates, you don’t understand what Little Tail means to me, no woman can be more important than her. If she were really alive, I would fulfill my promise, I would make her my wife, and protect her for life."
