Chapter 1349: She Doesn’t Want to Tell the Truth Anymore
"You don’t know? How could you possibly not know?" Matthew Saxon suddenly pulled her into his arms, his arms wrapped around her waist like vines, not allowing her to leave. He lifted her chin again, his eyes blazing with fire. "You were talking in your sleep. I heard you call out the name ’Little Tail’ with my own ears. You were crying and shouting for it not to leave."
"Scarlett Yates, I need to know what you dreamed about. Just tell me everything from your dream, and I’ll let you go."
"Tell me, why do you know about Little Tail?"
His fingers seemed to dig into her flesh, causing intense pain around her wrist. Scarlett Yates broke out in a cold sweat from the pain.
But Matthew Saxon didn’t care about her at all.
In his eyes, he couldn’t even see her face turning pale from the pain.
Ever since Scarlett called out that name, he had been pondering what exactly she dreamed of.
He had been waiting for her to wake up.
Until he figured out this matter, he couldn’t focus on anything else.
Scarlett Yates’s few words in her sleep were like a fire ignited in his heart. The place that had been barren and filled with endless darkness was now reignited with the light of hope.
Unable to break free, Scarlett softened her voice, "Matthew Saxon, my hand really hurts. Could you please let go? Like this... I can’t remember what I dreamed about."
Perhaps it was her pitiful tone, or more likely her last words had an effect. Matthew’s eyes still flickered with that frighteningly intense gaze, but after glancing at her, he slowly loosened his grip.
Scarlett immediately jumped out of his embrace, taking a few steps back.
Looking down, she saw a circle of red marks where he had just held her, indicating how strong his grip had been.
Her heart ached, and all sorts of emotions surged within her.
Injustice, anger, sadness...
She felt wronged because he had no regard for her feelings. That behavior truly showed he didn’t care about her at all.
She was also angry because of that.
The sadness stemmed from realizing that Little Tail held such an important place in his heart from his earlier reaction.
She couldn’t help but wonder if, without his memory loss, between her and Little Tail, who held the more significant place in his heart?
"Can you tell me now?" He seemed unable to wait any longer, urging eagerly.
Scarlett rubbed her red and swollen wrist, remained silent for a few seconds, and then slowly said, "Matthew Saxon, you’ve lost your memory, so you don’t remember that you personally told me about Little Tail, do you?"
"I told you about Little Tail?" Matthew was taken aback, looking rather surprised, a hint of astonishment in his narrow eyes.
"If you hadn’t told me yourself, how would I know?"
Scarlett could tell him everything about her dream.
If he hadn’t treated her so roughly.
But now, she didn’t want to tell the truth.
After pondering for a few seconds, she looked up, meeting his eyes, and lied to him calmly, "I just remembered our trip to Z Country, where you told me the story of you and Little Tail. Because the story left a deep impression, I ended up directing and acting it out in my dream."
