Chapter 1330: What Are You Really Trying to Say
Even after she had left for quite some time, Maxwell Saxon’s gaze remained greedily fixed on the direction she had departed.
The young driver didn’t dare rush him and just quietly waited. After a few more minutes, the cold, deep voice in the backseat sounded again: "Let’s go."
--
"Sir, Miss Scarlett is back."
Scarlett Yates hadn’t expected Noah Yates to still be waiting for her.
Once she entered the living room, she saw Noah Yates sitting there. When he saw Scarlett, he instructed the maid next to him to bring out the stewed bird’s nest from the kitchen.
"Come over, keep me company for a chat." Noah pointed to the seat opposite him.
Having just dealt with Maxwell Saxon, Scarlett Yates frowned slightly, feeling an intense headache.
But she still slowly walked over and sat opposite Noah Yates: "Dad, is there something you want to discuss?"
"Yes, there’s something." Noah nodded.
He was silent for a few seconds, as though he was thinking, and took a moment to observe Scarlett before slowly speaking: "You went out with Maxwell Saxon?"
Asking the obvious.
Surely, even before he came back, someone had already informed him about Maxwell Saxon coming to the Yates Family to pick her up for the banquet.
Irritated in her heart, she still nodded lightly: "Yes."
"Why did you return so early?"
"I was feeling unwell, so he sent me back to rest."
The maid brought over the stewed bird’s nest with rock candy and placed it by Scarlett Yates’ side.
Noah pointed to the bowl of bird’s nest, with a tinge of concern in his voice: "Eat this before you sleep. If you feel really unwell, call a doctor to have a look at you."
"I’m just a bit tired, a bit sleepy; a nap will make it better." Having returned from the banquet without eating much, Scarlett was indeed a bit hungry, so she didn’t hold back and started eating the bird’s nest porridge in small bites.
Halfway through eating, Noah spoke again: "Although Maxwell Saxon is quite strategic and even I sometimes can’t quite see through him, he is sincere towards you. To marry you, he offered a very earnest betrothal gift. With this sincerity towards you, you won’t suffer if you follow him."
The bird’s nest porridge was delicious, refreshing, and soothing to the throat. However, after hearing Noah’s words, Scarlett Yates lost all appetite.
Maxwell Saxon is sincere towards her, so naturally, she should marry him. Did he even ask if she wants to marry him?
To him, this deal is beneficial, so of course everything is spoken in a positive light. In his eyes, Maxwell Saxon is the perfect son-in-law; no one could be a better choice.
As for whether she likes him or not, or if she is willing or would suffer, would he even care?
"Dad, what exactly do you want to say? Just say it clearly." The bird’s nest porridge couldn’t be eaten anymore; Scarlett placed the bowl on the table, wiped her mouth, and lifted her head to meet Noah Yates’s gaze.
No wonder Noah was waiting for her, turns out he wanted to talk about Maxwell Saxon.
Noah smiled slightly, his smile faint, and pondered for a few seconds before slowly speaking: "The wedding date has been chosen, it’s on the 25th of this month. It is an auspicious day selected by the master, best for weddings."
Having heard some whispers from Rose Yates before, Scarlett Yates wasn’t surprised, only filled with a sickening feeling, like swallowing a fly.
After speaking, Noah smiled again, looking at her with a loving gaze: "There are still twenty days left, enough time to prepare. I’m informing you in advance, so you have a mental preparation. Do you have anything you want to say?"
