Will the Aloof Billionaire Divorce Today?

Chapter 1256: You Have to See It for Yourself

At noon, more than a dozen people sat around a table, and after enjoying a sumptuous lunch, they tacitly agreed to find some fun together. In less than half an hour after the meal, Scarlett Yates couldn’t see their shadows anymore.

Perhaps afraid that her beautiful curly hair would be messed up again, Rose Yates didn’t pester Scarlett after the meal. She said she was sleepy and slipped back to her room.

As for Noah Yates, as the chairman of the Yates Clan, he rarely spends an entire day at home. He spends most of his time at the company, and was called away by a phone call even during the meal.

Scarlett Yates, adopting an attitude of making the best of things, also returned to her room for a nap after finishing her meal.

When she awoke from her nap, it was almost dark.

Just as Scarlett Yates got out of bed, someone knocked on her door.

Rubbing her sleepy eyes, she went to open the door and saw Butler Wood standing outside. Upon seeing her, Butler Wood smiled slightly and said politely, "Miss Yates, Old Master Yates is inviting you."

--

The study was quaintly styled with rosewood bookshelves, and a few gem-embedded swords hanging on the walls. The room’s shelves were adorned with many precious orchids.

Entering the room, a faint scent of sandalwood wafted up to meet her nose.

Scarlett Yates navigated around a more than five-meter-long screen, took a few steps forward, and saw Old Master Yates sitting sternly at the desk. Seeing her enter, his face immediately turned grim, assuming an imposing posture before even speaking, using his presence to pressure her.

Without Noah Yates around, no one would protect her, and Old Master Yates didn’t show her the slightest courtesy.

"Scarlett Yates, do you know why I called you over?" His eyes were half-closed, casting a sharp gaze at Scarlett, carrying an unspoken authority.

On the desk were several ancient poetry books with blue covers and an ink stone, with a few brushes hanging from a wooden rack beside the ink stone.

Scarlett Yates immediately noticed a kraft paper file envelope on the desk, labeled with some hospital’s name.

She immediately guessed what the envelope contained.

Disliking roundabout ways, she nodded and said, "Is the appraisal result out?"

"Yes, the result is out." Old Master Yates didn’t invite her to sit, instead throwing the envelope forward, "Take a look for yourself."

She glanced down but didn’t take it, curving her lips into a smile, "Old Master Yates has already seen it, right? Why not just tell me the result directly?"

Everything was as she suspected; Old Master Yates had tampered with the appraisal result.

Scarlett Yates hadn’t looked at the appraisal result yet, but she was certain the conclusion on it had been falsified, stating that she and Noah Yates were not father and daughter.

"This is something concerning you personally, so you need to see it yourself." Old Master Yates seemed to want her absolute acceptance, insisting she see it with her own eyes.

After a few seconds of silence, Scarlett Yates curved her lips into another smile, then nodded, "Alright then, let’s take a look."

Both parties were already aware of the result; Scarlett guessed it, while Old Master Yates directly decided it.

Both were just putting on a show.

He pretended to let her see, and Scarlett pretended to open and look at it for a while.

A moment later, Scarlett Yates set the appraisal document down.

Old Master Yates said, "You saw the result, you are not Mr. Mason’s daughter."

Scarlett Yates sighed lightly, as if regretful, "According to the appraisal result, it seems so."
