Chapter 1252: Clearly Not a Good Person
Butler Wood, aware of his slip, immediately apologized and admitted his mistake: "Old Master, please don’t be angry, I called her wrong, it’s Miss Yates, Miss Yates..."
Old Master Yates let out a light hum from his nose: "I just want to see what that girl looks like. So many years have passed, and Mr. Mason still thinks about bringing her back."
As soon as these words were spoken, Noah Yates and his group came in from outside.
Old Master Yates, with eyes that were slightly clouded yet still shrewd, glanced over the crowd and immediately noticed Rose Yates was missing. He frowned and asked Butler Wood beside him, "Where’s Rose? Why don’t I see that girl?"
Butler Wood replied, "Miss was called by the master to the music room to practice piano; the master just conveyed a message through Uncle Marshall, saying that Miss is not allowed to go out for the next three months."
"Why is that?"
Butler Wood shook his head: "Not entirely sure, they say it has something to do with a necklace Miss was wearing. When Miss Yates saw the necklace on her neck, she said a few words, and it seems the master got angry, so he punished Miss."
"Hmph, that wild girl hasn’t even formally entered the Yates Family, yet she’s already bullying the people of my Yates Family. Clearly, she’s no good." Even before meeting Scarlett Yates, Old Master Yates already had a very poor impression of her.
Although he favored boys over girls, it’s not like he cherished Rose Yates much either, but at least Rose grew up by his side, which is better than an outsider.
As for Scarlett Yates, it was absolutely impossible for him to like her.
Years ago, he had determined in his heart that Autumn Spencer was not a decent woman, using improper means to bewitch his son, and Scarlett Yates’s existence to the Yates Family was like a stain.
The Yates Family required a woman of equally noble status to continue its excellent lineage, and obviously, Autumn Spencer’s status could never meet his standards.
Old Master Yates’s sharp eyes followed Scarlett Yates as she got closer and closer. When he saw Scarlett’s face clearly, his expression turned even colder, and the disgust in his eyes was unmistakably evident.
That wild girl, she actually looks eighty percent like Autumn Spencer.
"Dad." Noah Yates led Autumn Spencer to Old Master Yates, "I’ve brought Scarlett back."
"Is this the girl?" Old Master Yates’s gaze, not at all kind, scrutinized Scarlett Yates for a moment, from head to toe, his brow furrowed the entire time, with not a trace of a smile on his face.
The way Old Master Yates looked at her made Scarlett feel like she was an item on display, for everyone around to inspect. Although he didn’t say whether he was pleased or not, his expression said it all.
Old Master Yates didn’t like her, and his dislike was plainly obvious to Scarlett right away.
She was not surprised at all; everything was within her expectations.
"If not her, who else could it be? I’ve brought her back for you, what do you think?" Noah Yates spoke to his father with politeness and respect, a smile on his face. Seeing someone bringing over a teapot to pour tea for Old Master Yates, he took it himself, went forward and poured a full cup of hot tea, offering it with both hands to Old Master Yates, "Dad, have some tea."
Old Master Yates took it and sipped.
Noah Yates stood beside him, smiling, "Dad, today all the friends and relatives are here, about what I mentioned to you..."
"You just arrived home and haven’t even spent time talking with this old man, yet you’re already thinking about other people’s matters." Old Master Yates frowned with dissatisfaction.
