Back to the 70s: My Childhood Sweetheart Spoils Me Rotten

Chapter 1369 - 1371

Zhao Xuran walked out of the bathroom toweling his hair, only to find the bedroom plunged in darkness.

He casually placed the towel on the sofa by the window and dove straight into bed.

"Hey, how come you haven’t dried your hair properly?" Gong Ruini was startled jumped by the sudden presence of something damp next to her.

"Don’t you know sleeping with wet hair can give you a headache?"

"Honestly, you’re getting old." Gong Ruini felt helpless, here is someone who should be the big boss type, yet occasionally does such silly things.

Don’t you realize that this would make your head all uncomfortable?

"Come on, get up and dry your hair, or use the hairdryer if you don’t feel like it."

Gong Ruini really couldn’t understand how Zhao Xuran could be so indifferent about his hair. She knew he was meticulous and careful when drying hers.

"I’m not happy." Zhao Xuran mumbled, he simply didn’t want to get up to dry his hair, "You used to help me dry it."

Is this guy being playful? Gong Ruini was speechless.

Even when she used to help him dry his hair without a word, she could feel his face full of disdain.

Oh well, Gong Ruini couldn’t be bothered to get upset with him over this. Besides, letting him sleep like this would only give him a headache which she’ll have to deal with.

"Ni Zi, what’s with you lately, why don’t you want to talk to me?" Zhao Xuran lay quietly on the sofa with his eyes closed, while Gong Ruini stood behind him drying his hair.

Not talking to him? "Did I?" Gong Ruini didn’t understand why Zhao Xuran would ask that.

"Of course."

"Is something bothering you?" Zhao Xuran couldn’t figure out what the problem was, as it wasn’t Zhao Guangran, it must be him.

Despite thinking for ages, Zhao Xuran was puzzled about what he might have said, leaving Gong Ruini ignoring him for days, making him really uneasy.

"Nothing is bothering me." Looking at Zhao Xuran continually pressing her, Gong Ruini was at a loss for how to answer.

Should she counter-question Zhao Xuran? What if he doesn’t have that thought?

"I’m just worried whether Xiao Zhi is adapting to school."

"And I’m worried about keeping up with the pace." Gong Ruini looked troubled.

"Originally I thought upon arrival in the United States, chatting with foreigners would improve my English skills."

With school about to start, Gong Ruini realized she hadn’t exchanged more than a few words with any foreigners, making her very anxious about what to do then.

"Foreigners’ class pace is really fast." Zhao Guangran mentioned when he was in school, the professors taught at such a fast speed, they’d often have to find the books themselves.

Having asked Zhao Guangran about the books he read during his four-year college, Gong Ruini was significantly frightened.

Listening to his wife’s worries, Zhao Xuran felt guilty, there had really been too many things since they arrived in the United States.

With school starting soon, "Let’s drive out for a spin, just the two of us, how about it?"

After school starts, things will likely get busier, making it harder to find time to go out and play.

Going out to play, Gong Ruini certainly had no objection, "Where should we go then?"

Zhao Xuran wasn’t familiar with the United States, "I’ll find a guide tomorrow."

Originally thinking of asking Zhao Guangran where was fun, but later realizing if he asked, Zhao Guangran would surely cause a fuss to go along.

This time it was supposed to be just the couple on a trip, they couldn’t bring so many extras, otherwise, it would be all kinds of terrifying.

Gong Ruini didn’t mind, anywhere was fine as long as it was a trip, not worrying about being held back by Zhao Guangran to analyze and process data.

No more cooking and cleaning daily, for Gong Ruini, anywhere away was really like paradise.

In the living room, Zhao Xuran held a book on tourism, making plans.

"Going out to play?" Zhao Guangran wandered out from the kitchen with an ice cream cone, noticing his brother surprisingly engrossed in a travel book.

Odd, ordinarily if he didn’t want to go out, why would his brother be reading this type of book.

His brother must have a clear purpose in reading, whether for discussions on humanity, finance, or management topics.

Travel books were not something his brother would read, much less study so earnestly.

"Where to?"

"You misunderstood." As Zhao Guangran voiced his question, Zhao Xuran inwardly realized trouble, how could he have forgotten not to read downstairs.

Regardless, he mustn’t relent.

His brother’s denial was too swift, Zhao Guangran was sure not believing him.

If he truly hadn’t that idea, could he simply say two sentences? His mind twirled, "I want to go too."

Calculating the summer, he hadn’t had a vacation, every day only dealing with data, such a life was a solitary tragedy.

"Hey, I said I..." See, he couldn’t let them know, even with no acknowledgment of going out, Zhao Guangran was already making a fuss to tag along.

"Brother, don’t deny it, you can’t be thinking to sneak away." Zhao Guangran threatened, "Anyone lying must face punishment."

"Brother, you told us one should never lie, yet you didn’t practice what you preached." Zhao Guangran bluntly recited his brother’s lessons.

This brat. Zhao Xuran was speechless, was this lesson merely for Zhao Guangran?

Why was this brat everywhere, Gong Ruini didn’t hesitate to roll her eyes, "You’re not coming."

"You little punk." Although Zhao Xuran didn’t curse, the look he gave Zhao Guangran conveyed one word—scram.

Was Zhao Guangran afraid? Of course not, "Let’s go to Hawaii, surf there."

"Besides, the fruit there is nice." And certainly, there’d be bikini-clad beauties, notably escaping the mainland United States.

Going to Hawaii, Gong Ruini actually found this idea appealing, its distance being the only drawback.

Zhao Xuran had similar concerns, though he’d never been to Hawaii, he’d heard of the beautiful scenery there.

"It’s a wedding destination; many people get married there." Zhao Guangran encouraged.

"Brother, didn’t you say upon arriving in the United States to find a place like that?" Zhao Guangran saw his brother seemingly tempted, further urging.

Gong Ruini’s gaze was encouraging, "So, let’s go."

Gong Ruini definitely wanted to go to Hawaii; she hadn’t agreed immediately as she didn’t know what Zhao Xuran thought.

Now that he had no objection, "Alright."

"Find a nice environment."

"And make sure we eat well, drink well, and stay well."

Another eye roll, "We’re going on vacation." Vacation means feeling all kinds of comfortable, if it isn’t good eating, staying, and playing, might as well stay in New York.

"No worries, I’ll cover the money." Seeing his brother’s glance, Zhao Guangran didn’t wait for any response from them and immediately shouldered the payment responsibility.
