"I heard that this year's Shinō Academy has another talented boy who graduated in a year. He must be the one."
Among the streets of Seireitei, Mazuru met Aizen Sōsuke, the vice-captain of the Fifth Division.
Behind Aizen, there was a young man with short light purple hair, small and narrow eyes, and he always had his eyes squinted and a smile on his mouth.

The boy called Gin by Aizen couldn't help but widen his eyes, revealing a pair of light blue pupils. He turned to Mazuru and said respectfully, "Greetings, Vice-captain Mazuru."
Mazuru nodded slightly at the boy, then asked Aizen, "His name is Gin?"
"Yes, Ichimaru Gin."
While introducing Ichimaru Gin to Mazuru, Aizen said with a smile, "Earlier, your Thirteenth Division had an extra genius, Shiba Kaien, which attracted the envy of many divisions, but now, our Fifth Division team also got a genius shinigami."
"Although Gin has just joined the Fifth Division and has not yet become an seat official, he also graduated from the Shinō Academy in one year, and he is younger than Shiba Kaien.
