Chimaera's Conquest: The Legend Of The Devourer

Chapter 150: It Wasn’t Supposed To Be This Difficult (2)

Since the water impeded his movement, Adrian decided to take the fight elsewhere. Although he wasn’t sure, he was willing to take the risk.

As the creature approached, Adrian took out the minotaur’s sword and swung it around with all his might. He then proceeded to trigger [Minon Fury] to hasten the process.

The sword sliced through the water, creating a swirling vortex that protected him from the water’s pressure while shielding him from the merman’s attacks.

The merman shrieked as it realised something was amiss. However, it was too late to back down. The vortex sucked it inside like a black hole, with no hope of escaping.

The water churned and toiled around Adrian as the vortex intensified, its spiralling currents threatening to engulf everything in their path.

Adrian stopped once the vortex turned into a whirlpool of massive proportions and could carry the momentum itself. It was time to enact his plan’s next phase, and he began hunting for the merman in the chaotic currents.

He noticed the merman’s tail from the corner of his eyes and jumped towards the beast, grabbing its tail. The merman tried to bite him again, but Adrian smacked it in the head with the hilt of his sword, knocking it out.

’It should happen at any moment now...’

On cue, the whirlpool began collapsing. The pressure from the collapse flung them upwards, as Adrian had predicted. It was a gamble, but it paid off. Now, all that was left was to use the momentum wisely.

Adrian’s heart raced as they left the darkness of the deep ocean behind, greeting the sun above. All the while, Adrian had a tight grip around the merman’s tail, refusing to let go of the beast.

Hurtling through the sky, the wind whipped through his hair as he soared ever higher. Once their descent was about to begin, Adrian let go of the merman before turning to slash it with the blade.
