Chimaera's Conquest: The Legend Of The Devourer

Chapter 109: Fenris (2)

Envy. That was the emotion in the eyes of the tribesmen when they saw the Commander wolf wagging its tail.

While the tribes ’respected’ Milka due to Suhi’s influence, the riders under Ahuli’s command had no such obligation. In their eyes, Milka was a useless brat who only knew how to freeload on his father’s influence.

But that perception was shattered in moments when they saw him facing and taming the commander wolf all by himself. The riders, in a state of disbelief, couldn’t help but feel envious, and who could blame them?

Milka just swooped in and tamed the strongest wolf they had set their eyes on, while they had to give their best even to get an umber brown wolf to partner up with them.

But the most surprised among them was Skaha. Never in a million years had he thought Milka would be the one to partner up with not only a white dire wolf but an aberrant white dire wolf.

Skaha knew the boy had talent in him from how he went against Huruk, but the outcome before him was unlike what he had imagined.

’I was confident Ahuli would be the one to tame the beast...’ Skaha thought as a healer rushed past him to treat Ahuli’s wound. ’But fate had something else planned for us.’

Skaha wasn’t the only one who thought Ahuli would tame the beast. After all, it was only fitting that the strongest beast in the tribe belonged to the strongest man in the tribe. That had been the unspoken rule. But now that Milka had tamed the beast, things were about to be different.

’Milka’s influence would soar through the sky once the tribe learns about this. But it might hurt Ahuli’s reputation. I can’t allow that to happen, not after investing so much in him.’

Skaha turned to face his nephew, who was trembling in rage. The fact that Ahuli couldn’t subdue the wolf must have felt like a slap to his face, but having a deadbeat partner up with that same wolf was just plain humiliation in Skaha’s eyes, and he knew Ahuli would have felt the same.

But the reality was different. Instead of being angry, Ahuli was ecstatic with the strange development.
