Chapter 93: Karma Is A Bitch (1)
Unlike how the games and other media portrayed slimes, the creatures were highly sought after in Nexaria.
Their acid was a crucial ingredient in research and the production of alchemical products and was considered as valuable as gold.
But that wasn’t all they were good for. The slimes’ jelly-like exterior was used to craft prosthetics and other highly popular resources in the noble circle of Nexaria.
There was such a demand for these creatures that they were considered a rare commodity; their presence alone could elevate a shop’s status as nobles went flocking in search of slime-related products to increase their non-existent beauty that resulted from generations of inbreeding within ’distant relatives’.
Back then, Adrian often wondered how the high-end shops were always stacked with slime-related products when they were so rare that even the heroes had only ever faced them once or twice, as the slimes didn’t have a natural habitat and appeared at random places.
Due to this reason, it was impossible to ’farm’ slimes as the Nexarians could with other beasts. Still, they never lacked slime-related resources as long as they were willing to pay enough.
Now, Adrian had his answer. The Tulkas had been secretly trading with Nexaria for years. The tribe’s wealth and progress were mainly due to their access to the valuable slimes.
In contrast, the Banurs, who had been banished and had nothing to do with the outsiders, lacked such access, were less developed and more traditional in their ways and were portrayed as savages.
’The Tulkas have been trading with Nexaria for god knows how long,’ Adrian thought. ’Yet they had the audacity to banish the Banurs for colluding with the outsiders?’
