Chapter 84: Someone’s Always Lurking (1)
Everyone in the council watched on with their mouth open except A’Mila, who had a smile. Silka was the weakest member of the council, but they hadn’t expected her to lose against Adrian in such a pathetic manner.
On top of that, Adrian also proved that he wasn’t much weaker than them, and he endured their mistreatment only because he was at fault.
The council recognised that Adrian had done plenty to earn forgiveness for his small mistake, as anyone from outside wouldn’t endure their abuse while assisting them willingly.
Had Adrian truly been against them, he could have just sided with Malachi and caused trouble from within the tribe.
This would have made them vulnerable to Malachi’s attack, setting the prisoner, including himself, free. But Adrian chose to help them, going against his kind and doing what was right for the tribe.
That alone was enough to win over the tribe. Adrian should have been treated as a hero, but under Silka’s influence, they couldn’t see him as anything more than an evil being causing havoc.
Prior to the chaos brought by Malachi’s invasion, A’Mila had uncovered the source of the rumours about her- it was Silka, attempting to take her position as Matriarch.
Silka and her little gang of underlings had been spreading rumours about A’Mila and how she was unfit to run the tribe. While it didn’t have much effect initially, Silka got the perfect opportunity to strike A’Mila down following Adrian’s rampage.
As she was the weakest among the council members, it would take Silka a long time to reach the Matriarch’s position if she followed the regular route.
