Chapter 39: Replace And Retry (1)
While Adrian’s plan had worked, it didn’t take him long to hit another snag. Once underwater, he found that although the trolls were terrible swimmers, their lung capacity was nothing to laugh at, as they could hold their breaths for more than an hour.
Waiting longer to see how long the trolls could hold their breaths wasn’t an option, especially with Sophia still missing. The time inside the dungeon shared a different flow than the outside world, which posed another problem.
Besides, Adrian knew the other heroes were looking for Sophia, and the more time passed inside the dungeon, the greater the risk that they would discover the dungeon and block Adrian’s escape. He wanted to avoid that at all costs.
If that wasn’t enough, there was another problem. Holding the Minotaur’s Broadsword, Adrian realised something – he didn’t know how to fight underwater. He could barely hold his own on land, so he could forget about fighting under the sea.
’This isn’t what I had in mind,’ Adrian thought as he swam towards the trolls.
Although he knew it would be difficult, he didn’t want to back out. As he got close enough, he swung the sword, only to realise the sword underwater was way slower than he had thought; the thick water had made everything sluggish.
’This is gonna be tougher than I imagined.’
While his attacks successfully connected, the monstrous and resilient trolls seemed unfazed by the slow swings. Adrian’s attacks barely scratched them, and any damage he managed to inflict was healed in no time.
’This viscosity is killing my speed, and their healing is making this pointless.’
