Chapter 35: Dungeon Date (1)
’Why did we spawn in the sky!?’ Adrian thought as the two began freefalling towards the ground.
The world around them blurred as they descended into the unknown. Once inside the dungeon, Adrian released his grip on Sophia, hoping she would somehow get outside. If not, he wanted to get away from her at least and clear the dungeon on his own.
However, Adrian’s plan hit a snag. Sophia wasn’t going anywhere until she saw his face, especially after hearing his voice.
Earlier, Adrian had revealed his voice, thinking it would shock Sophia for long enough for him to escape, but now his plan seemed to be falling apart.
’I should have invested the points to improve my intelligence! Fuck! I feel like a stupid good-for-nothing porter!’
Had he met Sophia alone before, he would have jumped at the opportunity to tell Sophia about everything had he found her alone.
But he hesitated after his newfound suspicion of the Church’s involvement in his supposed demise. The risk of exposing the truth to Sophia, potentially putting her in harm’s way, was a chance he couldn’t and wouldn’t take, no matter the consequences.
While Sophia was important to the Church, Adrian believed they wouldn’t hesitate before silencing anyone who could cause trouble for them. Rather than his revenge, his priority had turned to keeping her safe, even if it meant living his life apart from the girl he loved.
That’s why he wanted to distance himself from her. Unfortunately, Sophia was too stubborn and didn’t give up. She used her wind magic to tie them together, ensuring Adrian wouldn’t escape without answering her questions.
After that, Sophia cast a wind spell to soften her landing as they fell into the dungeon. On the other hand, Adrian, relying on his enhanced physique, could only hope that his body could endure the impact of skydiving from another dimension inside the dungeon.
But Sophia saved him there as well. Which wasn’t all that surprising given how she suspected the stranger was Adrian.
