Chapter 51: Elemental Excellence Academy: Commoner Among Elites
As Selene opened her dorm room, her face scrunched. The room was small, its walls faded and stained by time, the once-white paint now a dull, uneven cream. A single bed sat pushed against the corner—its wooden frame slightly creaky, the mattress sunken in the middle as if burdened by countless restless nights. The bedsheet was clean but old, patterned with faint blue stripes worn from too many washes.
Beside the bed stood a lone chair—metal-framed, paint chipping at the edges, with a wobbly leg that made it rock ever so slightly when touched. It faced the window, as if someone once sat there often, staring outside.
The window was large enough to let in sunlight during the day, but its glass was slightly smudged, and the rusted latches creaked when moved. Beyond it, you could see the vast blue sea and hear the sounds of waves.
"This is the room of first rank student," Selene said out loud with a frustrated tone.
The same scene repeated for Riven Veylor, the 2nd Rank student, who had a similar room, but now the chair was broken on the floor.
Kaelan Ignis, 3rd Rank, was watching through the window in a similar kind of room and gritting his teeth, his blue eyes seething in fury.
Varek Drakthorn, the 4th Rank, was lying on the bed, already sleeping.
Whereas Rina Roarhart, the 5th Rank student, was sitting on the chair looking at the distant sea with concern and worry etched on her face. "What should I do? How can I help Alex? I have to do something. Should I ask Sister Emilia? Let’s do that tomorrow."
In a dark room, as moonlight came through the window, making shadows of a chair, a person sitting opened his eyes as the door creaked open. A person in all black, merging with the darkness, entered and bowed, saying in a whisper-like voice, "It’s done, Leader."
A heavy voice with a chuckle came from the person sitting on the chair. "So, where’s he now?"
The other person gave a sadistic smile and said, "The commoner went toward the outer mountain wall and found a little cave. He is in there."
