Chapter 5: Romania City
A city near the Green Zone Forest stood surrounded by tall walls, guarded by sentries stationed along the ramparts. It served as the first line of defense against the monstrous storms.
A boy, around five feet tall, blue eyes, shiny white hair, dressed in golden-brown fur clothing, stepped through the city gate. His head was covered by a hood made from the head of a bear. The guards at the gate froze for a second. A kid—maybe fifteen—wearing the hide of a D-rank monster? That wasn't something you saw every day.
Alex walked up to one of the guards, who stood holding a spear, his armor gleaming steel-white.
"Hello, sir," Alex said, voice calm but weary.
"Hello, kid," the guard replied, raising an eyebrow.
"Can I ask you something?" Alex asked. The guard scanned him, head to toe, and figured he must be a first-year at the academy. He nodded.
Alex took a breath. "Do you know what happened to the village near the Green Zone?"
The guard's face darkened.
"That place was hit by a monster storm three years ago. Not a single soul made it out alive."
He narrowed his eyes. "Why do you ask?"
Alex's heart stopped.
