The Forsaken Heir's Ascension

Chapter 1: Screams in The Night:The Massacre That changed Everything

Alex woke up to the sound of screams. Darkness was everywhere—eyes closed or open, it made no difference. The only contrast was the unending, haunting screams.

He moved from his bed, reaching out, feeling his way through the dark. Beside his bed was the one his little sister slept in. He touched her bed to see if she was there, but felt nothing. He searched frantically, his hands sweeping across only wet sheets.

The constant screaming sent fear deep into his bones.

A flicker of firelight started to seep in from outside. That's when he saw it—near the foot of his bed was half a head, with only one side of the face intact.

His mind went blank. His scream caught in his throat. He moved toward it and picked it up.

A single blue eye stared wide open in terror, blood vessels prominent in the sclera. Her white hair was now soaked in red.

Alex collapsed on his back, the remains of his sister's head clutched tightly to his chest.

Grief overtook him. He let go of everything—and succumbed to the void.

Jack woke up to the screams of villagers and saw people running. Black shadows chased after them—monsters, bloodthirsty and cruel, hunting in packs and feeding on fear. These shadow monsters merged with the darkness, traveling through shadows. They were from the Red Zone Forest and had never left their territory to hunt before.

What's going on here? Jack thought. I have to protect my family.

He had once been a B-rank hunter and still knew how to fight. Grabbing his old sword, he ran in the opposite direction of the fleeing villagers.
