Chapter 77: Presence of Nanjing Sheng
It was a widely known fact that humans considered beasts no different than animals and sometimes even worse. They even captured beasts to make them slaves and sold them to nobles and commoners alike.
They were even sold to factories and shops to perform hard labor, and their treatment totally depended on their masters. The effects of slavery didn’t need any explanation.
Kiona’s appearance was humanoid, but she still had bestial features which would be recognized one way or another. Once that happened, the Church would personally send people to eradicate them.
After all, a humanoid beast represented a high Evolution Stage and was highly dangerous to them. There was even a chance that they would take Kiona as a slave—as someone like her would surely sell for a lot.
Kael’s group simply wasn’t strong enough to face them, which poured cold water on everyone’s excitement about their recent Evolution. It reminded them of their weakness.
Kiona pursed her lips but didn’t say anything. While she did want to accompany her master, she knew she would only become a burden to him, which was the last thing she wanted to do.
"It’s fine, Master. There are many things I will need to do here."
Kael sighed and said, "You won’t be coming with me, but my reasoning is different from yours. Even if we can somehow mask your presence from the humans in the cities, there is someone more problematic sitting in the Human Domain."
He clenched his fists and muttered in a cold voice, "Nanjing Sheng. He’s one of the top experts in the Human Domain and is also in search of you. He probably can’t detect you in the wilds, but it’ll be different if you move closer to him."
