Chapter 66: The Final Day
For the remaining duration of the buff he received from the Labyrinth, Kael stayed on the second floor and hunted the monsters that were relatively close to his rank.
It was because he knew that the C-Rank brought a qualitative leap, so he didn’t want to take unnecessary risks—especially since the temptations from the Crimson Tree were very strong on the second floor.
Kael feared he would lose control and fall into the illusion if he was in a weakened state. That would be terrible.
So, for three days straight, he fought and killed like a madman. His Draconic physique sustained him, so he didn’t really need anything else aside from some rest.
It also helped him in circles exploring the entire second floor, through which he also made a detailed map. It helped him learn a lot of things.
The Crimson Tree was at the center of everything, and the world here was shrouded in gray fog with an eternal night. As for the monsters, they were mostly related to the darkness and shadow element, which helped him even further.
The whole second floor was filled with these stealthy monsters that ranged from F-Rank to C-Rank. Sadly, the drop rate was incredibly low on the second floor. Even after so much hunting, he barely obtained a few things.
This also confirmed his guess of the Crimson Tree being the Boss—or at least related to the Boss—of the second floor.
After the floor reset of the first floor, Kiona and the twins joined him in the hunt. They actually defeated the Nether Wolf and its minions by themselves, showing their power and coordination.
From its loot, they only got a pair of daggers and a Flame Core, which could help them in various ways. The daggers were named Flamingo and provided resistance toward illusion and mental hexes.
However, its best enchantment was the complete immunity to the Crimson Tree’s illusions. They could still feel the tug at their emotions and thoughts, but the daggers provided a defense for that too.
