Chapter 126: Izumo’s Wedding
August 18th, Year 60 of Konoha.
After completing the necessary formalities, Izumo and Mikan held their wedding on this day.
Shinobi weddings were never particularly lively. There were no elaborate ceremonies like matchmaking or betrothal gifts.
As one of Konoha’s two "great gate guardians", Kamizuki Izumo naturally had many shinobi acquaintances who came to offer their congratulations. However, very few stayed for the feast afterward.
It wasn’t that people were being disrespectful—it was just that shinobi prioritized missions above all else. Unless it was a grand event that shook the shinobi world, like Naruto’s antics, most shinobi simply held a modest ceremony and called it a day.
At the moment, the young Ino-Shika-Chō trio stood stiffly at the entrance, greeting guests and managing the guestbook. Meanwhile, Kamizuki Hikari was chatting with a group of peers in the distance.
"Ah, I’m so jealous. How did someone as wonderful as Mikan end up with Izumo?" muttered Shiranui Genma, chewing on a senbon in his mouth, his eyes fixed enviously on the newlyweds.
"If you’re that jealous, why don’t you go talk to Mikan? I heard Konoha Hospital just recruited a new bunch of young nurses. You know what I mean..." Yamashiro Aoba, the resident pervert, nudged Genma with a sly grin.
"Actually, I think we should chip in a bit more this time. After all, it seems like everyone here is single, right?" Hagane Kotetsu delivered the killing blow.
Genma and Aoba opened their mouths but found no rebuttal.
Damn, he had a point.
"Come to think of it, Kotetsu, your best friend is getting married and yet you’re still single. Now you won’t have anyone to share your single life with. Gonna be tough, huh?" Aoba teased Kotetsu.
