The days that followed were spent lounging at home all day. Since the walls had been plastered with mud again, the house was quite warm.
With nothing to do, Su Yuanyuan stayed at home sewing shoe soles, which Hu Chunhua had brought over. After giving her some simple instructions, Hu Chunhua let her try it on her own.

Enjoying a lovely meal, today being her birthday, she wanted to do nothing, so she lay on the kang reading a book, thinking that when she has money next year, she would definitely buy an iron stove and the house would be warm.
She wasn’t worried about carbon monoxide poisoning; this type of house wasn’t airtight, so that situation wouldn’t occur.
She was wrapped warmly, with a hot water bottle tucked in her arms, not cold, but her hands and feet were still icy.
