Chapter 438: Fishing In The Dark.
Leo landed in the Zion nation and then he took a taxi after getting out of the airport and then headed to the hotel. After getting to the reception counter, he was shown to his room. The moment he was inside, the first thing he did was to go and take a shower. He didn’t speak or anything, nor did he call back home, he was going to rest and that was it.
The young man used his communicator to talk to Alpha, and then planned the whole thing. Leo was smart enough to train himself to detect spy modules that may be hidden in the surroundings, because Zion was rather cautious about foreigners. They had an agency that kept an eye on these tourists in particular. Leo had not yet felt such a gaze, and nor has Alpha alerted him of any such person being in the surrounding but it was something that might happen so Alpha was tasked to keep scanning the faces of the people around Leo within a kilometers range to spot such people.
The only weapon that Leo had was a makeshift plastic wire, although his suitcase could be taken apart to furnish itself in a high level sniper rifle but that was not something he needed, so after placing the plastic wire inside his jacket, Leo put on a cap and grabbed a bottle of water before leaving the hotel. He was staying one of the biggest hotels of the capital so the security was amazing, however, it was not the place with the maximum footfall.
He came out of the hotel put on his sunglasses and toured around the city like a normal tourist, but it was all to see if someone was following him. Alpha did found three or four people watching him in the noon, they were all agents but that was it, they deemed him not threatening and left him alone.
Then Leo reached the western side of the city, where he booked a table in an upscale hotel and went inside. Tonight, this place was holding a few high profile guests, all those who were known as billionaires, however, these people were actually the descendants of the Morning Star Tower.
Leo had come here for one thing, to kill the person who was leading these men, and then he would find a way to kill these men as well, so he ate the food, toured around the place in the guise that he would like to survey the place and see if it was suitable for his boss to come and dine. Alpha had created a rather deep profile with Leo being a representative of a higher level boss, who was similar to these billionaires. Leo had seen the profiles of these people and then he memorized them as well.
So when they were passing by, Leo recognized all of them, and specifically his target. So the plan to get close to these people was simple, send them all some things that they liked and make those items expensive.
Leo was going through a list and afterwards, to avoid suspicion he decided to gift all the guests in the place. This was a grand gesture but with the help of advanced tech he managed to hoodwink all the people and they were all curious about who gifted them. However, only the billionaires club managed to get the hint from the people in the restaurant.
After a few minutes, a young man dressed in a bespoke suit walked up to Leo. He looked at Leo and asked, "I don’t remember ever meeting you. How do you know that I like the Charade Rose?"
Charade Rose was a wine that was one of the most sought out bottles in the world, but in Zion only this place, the Heritage had two of them. Even though this guy was a billionaire, he had no idea, because this wine was placed in the chefs collection and only when the chef, the owner of the place agreed could it be sold. Leo just offered a price that the man could not refuse to and the bottle was delivered.
Leo raised his head to look at the man and said, "Mister Clat, have a seat and then we can talk."
The young man raised his brow and sat down, Leo smiled and introduced himself, "I am Jan Franke, I have never met you before this but I have done extensive research about the various people of the world who command the aspects and the flow of the oil industry."
The young man smiled, Leo complimented by stating a fact. The Clat family had a stock of 20 percent in the world oil business, and thus they were the commanders, as for the young man before him. This guy was the helmsman of the next generation of the Clat family, the heir apparent, Clyde Clat.
Clyde took out a cigar from the case in his hand and asked, "Would you like one?"
Leo shook his head and replied, "I don’t indulge in smoking, my boss is allergic to it and cannot stand it."
Clyde raised his brow, "Who is your boss?"
Leo smiled and said, "Just understand that my boss is the guy who is currently running the show in the east. He is rather low-profile so you might not know about him. However, recently he has purchased a lot of things, and one of those things happens to be the graphene manufacturing tech from the Cardinal Group."
This last sentence only got Clyde to look at him with shock. He asked, "Why are you telling me about this?"
Leo replied, "It is simple, my boss would like to trade, however, the Zion laws and stuff is too stringent. He asked me to find if someone was interested."
Clyde nodded and looked around before he said, "This is not the place to talk. How about you find me at my mansion later?"
Leo shook his head and replied, "It is too obvious. I cannot be seen with you for too long. My boss doesn’t want to be in the limelight at all. That is his only condition. We meet at some secret place, you can bring your guards if you feel like."
Clyde found this odd, and suddenly asked, "Can you prove that you have the tech?"
Leo smiled and then handed over his phone to the man after opening a few documents. These were the final conclusion research papers. As Clyde read the documents, his eyes widened and his lips curled. He was a masters in business but his bachelors was in physics. He knew that this paper was legit, but it was still not something that could buy his trust.
He looked at the Leo and asked, "You will need to show a sample of graphene and we will test it. I have a lab, outside the city, you can meet me there. Give me your number and I will inform you when to come."
Leo shrugged and replied, "I don’t have much time left here, if you can arrange it by midnight, that would be good."
Clyde thought about it and Leo said, "If the Cardinal Group finds out we intend to sell it to Zion, then they will come after us. I know Zion is safe, but look at the Stag Nation change after Leo Cardinal visited them. At the moment, he might be sick or in shock, but his family, they are not easy to mess with."
Clyde nodded, he had experienced the fall in Clover Nation after the electric cars took over the roads from combustion engines. It was a steady and sure decline for him. He said, "Fine, midnight, I will call you and we will meet outside the city."
Leo nodded to the man and then Clyde stood up before he left a card for Leo and walked away. Leo knew that things were not going to be so simple, but his cover was not something that Clyde could see through, and despite the fact that he was here with his friends, that didn’t mean that he could get Leo cornered. Worst comes worst, Leo will kill them all quick and run away. He would go to war if need be this time.
...
Time passed quickly and then Leo received a phone call when he was walking on the street. Yes, he was on the street already heading out of the city on his feet, he avoided all the traffic cameras and most of the commercial cameras as well, when he escaped his hotel. He was wearing a black jacket and a black cap, none could see him as he moved through the shadows. The bait was caught and now it was time to reel in the fish.
Leo checked his phone and Clyde said, "I am here, how long would it take for you to come over?"
Leo replied with a spark of cold in his eyes, "Five minutes."
Clyde nodded and said, "I am driving a black sedan. The blinkers are on, you will see me for sure."
Leo nodded and disconnected, before he began to run. The night was going to shroud itself in the veil of death.
