Jiang Ziqi did not refuse, giving Lin Yue some of the finished product was no issue, but if she needed a large quantity, that would require consideration. It wasn’t that Jiang Ziqi was stingy and unwilling to provide for Lin Yue, but since it involved family secrets, they needed a reason for the transaction—an outright sale, or an additional condition of a business deal. Otherwise, the elders in his family might not be pleased, which could lead to needless and very annoying debates.
"Alright, I’ve agreed to your request. There’s nothing else, right? Off you go and have fun elsewhere. If there’s anything more, it can wait until later." Jiang Ziqi said and promptly pushed her out the door. In fact, he wanted to sort out the matter of the pills and potions promptly and come up with a plan of action for his subordinates. Two months was neither a long nor a short time, and though he had agreed to Lin Yue’s request, producing the medicine in such a short time frame would definitely be tight, especially since some of the ingredients needed to be procured on short notice. There really was no time to delay.
Now that Jiang Ziqi had agreed, another of Lin Yue’s concerns was resolved, and she left cheerfully, still smiling even though Jiang Ziqi had been impatient and annoyed. She wasn’t affected in the slightest, nor did she take his gruff manner to heart—she knew very well what his temperament was like. Even if Lin Yue were to get angry, it would only be an act, hardly becoming so petty as to take genuine offense.
Lin Yue looked at the recipes Jiang Ziqi had written; most of the ingredients were available at home. According to the list, she went to the storeroom to gather the herbs and sent them to the Soap Making Room. For the few items that were missing, she had Lin Genfa take care of procuring them. Normally, such outside affairs were handled by Liu Aniu, but both Zhao Erhu and Lin Yue held Lin Genfa in high regard and intended to cultivate his abilities. Therefore, they assigned these relatively minor yet developmental tasks to Genfa, hoping to train him to be capable of managing on his own soon.
Liu Aniu was an honest and upright man, not only loyally dedicated to Zhao Erhu and Lin Yue but also taught by his mother to be virtuous from a young age. With such an innate nature, he had never thought of doing anyone harm, so when Zhao Erhu and Lin Yue arranged for Genfa in this manner, he did not worry that Genfa would affect his own position and resort to foul play. Intent on doing good, he was well aware of Genfa’s family situation as well.
Liu Aniu had helped Genfa’s family for several days in the past and had taken a liking to Genfa, who was both sincere and thoughtful. He sympathized with Genfa for struggling with the burdens of a family and the loss of his wife, so he took extra care of him. Whenever Genfa was uncertain about something, Aniu did not withhold his knowledge and taught him all he could. "Madam, rest assured, I’ll make sure all is well with the tasks you’ve entrusted to me," Lin Genfa said humbly, seeing himself wholly as a servant, calling Zhao Erhu and Lin Yue master and madam along with the other servants. No matter how many times they had told him it was unnecessary, he wouldn’t listen, determined to persist.
