Colorful pastries were laid out on long tables, and both the children and the House of Animals gathered around to eat them with relish. Yixiu understood somewhat—it was perhaps because Pearl Sister worried she might never get to enjoy such delights again.

Zhu Suji had a sweet tooth, but even the tastiest pastries couldn’t tempt him if they contained meat. Yixiu and Qian Yijing had tried to convince him several times, saying that the creamy cakes contained only milk and eggs, which technically weren’t considered meaty, but he remained resolute in his refusal.

Happy days always flew by swiftly—before they knew it, July 5th arrived, and tomorrow would be the day Zhu Suji would take Pearl Kid and Sister Squirrel to Daci Temple to bid farewell to Master Beikong.

Both Liang Jinzhao and Yixiu had wanted to take the day off to accompany them and send off Master Beikong and Pearl Kid and Sister Squirrel at least until the foot of Xiding Mountain. However, Zhu Suji disagreed. He said, "Master specifically instructed that only I, Senior Hongzhi, and Senior Hongyuan are to see them off. If you come, you won’t be able to meet them, and it might make you even sadder; it’s better to stay in the Capital City, safely wishing them well from afar."

In the evening, Yijing, having played till late in Lan Courtyard, felt unwell and thus stayed overnight in the western chamber of Lanzhou Garden with Zhu Suji.

As the night deepened and all the servants "slept," Pearl Kid made the crystal house appear. Yixiu, Liang Jinzhao, and Zhu Suji brought the deeply "sleeping" Yijing, Chengcheng, Xinxin, Sisi, along with Monkey Brother’s family inside.

Since there was spiritual energy inside the crystal house, they wanted the group to stay a while for the benefit of their health. However, without revealing the truth, they had to bring them in only after they’d "fallen asleep."

They had initially planned to let the young Princesses enter too, but Pearl Kid said it was not meant to be, as they had no fate with the crystal house.

Pearl Kid sat on Yixiu’s left leg, and Sister Squirrel on her right, and they stayed like that throughout the night. Apart from those who were already "asleep," no one else felt a hint of sleepiness. Pearl Kid kept calling out, "Mother, Mother..."

Yixiu answered time and again, "Ah, my son, your mother is listening."
