He Damei recalled and then chuckled wickedly, "The family above us bought their place only six months after we did, and when they heard about our house’s price, they nearly cried. So the current price of this house isn’t unjust. I just feel like we’ve been busy for nothing these past few years."
"How have we been busy for nothing? Keeping more houses and land for the descendants, that’s what really matters," Su Family’s Sixth Son finished the last bite of his pear and tossed the core away. He wiped his hands on his clothes and spoke with a voice still full of vitality.
"If we have enough money, then let’s buy it. Who knows, in a few years we might not be able to afford it." Su Family’s Sixth Son spoke without a hint of hesitation.
"But once we’ve bought it, we won’t have any money left. What if something happens?" asked He Damei hesitantly. Her primary concern was that Su Family’s Sixth Son was getting on in years and if he fell ill, they wouldn’t have any money to spare.
She knew her daughter-in-law had some money, but she wasn’t sure if her daughter-in-law would be willing to pitch in when the time came.
"The name on our current house is yours and Third Brother’s, right?" Su Family’s Sixth Son paused, as if thinking of something, then turned to ask He Damei.
"Yes, when you insisted on putting our names on it, you said it was to avoid worries about you having any problems or entanglements in the future. Plus, one house could be exchanged for three rural household registrations. Back then, Third Brother, Xiaokai, and I all changed our registrations to S City," He Damei nodded as she answered.
