Chapter 265: Devil Gate
In the inky mountains of Soul Lake, there stood a dilapidated Taoist temple. Even the current temple master dared not enter lightly, as one could easily walk in but never walk out.
The interior of the broken Taoist temple was extremely simple, much like a ruined village temple. Though referred to as a Taoist temple, there were no sculptures or images hung inside for worship.
There was just an empty main hall, two side houses, and a backyard.
Perhaps due to the intrusion of the ink-like Soul Fog, the backyard was desolate, with not a single weed growing except for a dead locust tree.
Under the dead locust tree, there was an ancient well. The well opening was not large, but when looking down, it seemed boundless. The world inside the well was very simple, containing a dried-up blood pool at the center of which lay a corpse in the dried blood plasma.
The lower half of the corpse was nothing more than a pile of white bones, while the upper half still had withered flesh and blood. Numerous flesh sprouts squirmed and crawled on the flesh around the neck, constantly trying to grow downwards only to wither away.
Inside the ribcage of the body, a dark red heart was clearly seen beating, along with several organs.
The aged face was full of ash-colored defeat. But even reduced to such a state, he seemed to still be alive, simply in a deep slumber.
The bottom of the well was utterly silent until, at one moment, the semi-solid blood pool resembling plasma suddenly quivered. The corpse petrified inside bolted its eyes wide open, revealing a pair of blood-colored pupils with no whites.

Outside the Taoist temple, due to the opening of the corpse’s eyes, the ink-like Soul Fog suddenly rolled violently. The tremendous commotion alarmed the entire Bone Soul Sect as powerful figures emerged in the sky, surrounding the ruined Taoist temple.
