Chapter 208: Revenge game
Edward finally arrived at his apartment and dropped Anna before heading to the Chen mansion.
The moment he arrived, he met with his mother patiently waiting for him and the moment he got out of the car, the woman rushed to him, her actions purely disappointing the man.
"Edward! Is our family’s reputation fixed?" Edward instantly felt some sharp pain inwardly seeing his mother’s reaction. He expected her, like any other mother to first ask how her son was. Whether he was stressed or hurt or even just tired, literally anything about his health and well being but she immediately cared about her reputation and position in the society.
The man nodded without even using any words as he went past her only to hear the woman he left behind taking out her phone and making a call and the only words he managed to hear were ’Yes, my family’s reputation is okay. I will be there for the party Mrs Tang.’
Mrs Tang.. That was the wife of the mayor, their family was right above theirs. He felt dissapointed knowing that his mother was only interested in this whole fiasco just because she wanted to attend a fucking party for her reputation. Maybe she would even care less if he even died or got sick..
Without his knowledge, his view of his mother stared changing and the love he has always had for his mom started changing with her actions tonight.
He went in only to see his father on the sofa reading a newspaper and inwardly thought, ’At least dad cares for me’ only for his thoughts to come to a halt when Mr Chen didn’t even ask for his well being but instead said a few words.
"Good job fixing our reputation. I don’t know how you did it but good job, we have to hold our heads high before other families you know."
He did not even lift his head from the stupid magazine he was reading making Edward’s pain hit further that the man lost whatever interest he had to come see his parents.
They only cared about their reputation and company but what about him? Their only son /heir. Was it really that hard for them to even ask how he was doing? ’of course it isn’t stupid, they just don’t want to.’ his inner self mocked him making him turn and head for the exit.
