Chapter 39: Emily Huang
The following day, Edward arrived back at Country X only to receive a call from a strange number immediately after landing. He decided to pick up anyway.
A sweet coquettish voice was heard, "Brother Chen, this is Diana, I am back in the country. I miss you! It has been years!"
Edward was stunned for a minute before replying, "Diana, it’s been long! Maybe we should go out for a meal sometime, I have missed you too."
"Perfect!" On the other end Diana was smiling gleefully knowing she had achieved what she wanted.
"I will tell you the time and place, I cannot miss out, talk to you later, I have to prepare to take over the company."
She said as she hung up, reminding Edward that she is a perfect heiress about to take over their family business.
Edward stiffened slightly remembering Jane when he head the word business. He frowned remembering the slap but decided not to pay much attention to her. He still assumes she is just trying to make him jealous but still loves him. So delusional!
As he was heading to the Chen mansion, he scrolled through Anna’s news and realized everything was wiped clean and an apology posted. There were even people who sympathized with her.
He smiled widely knowing the woman fulfilled her promise. For him, she made sure to clean up. He decided to give her a reward. He sent her a simple text, ’I am back in the country, meet me in the evening at our usual place.’
Still going through the news he felt as if everything was too peaceful and this didn’t seat quite well with him. It was just like calm before the storm and he was indeed right.
Everything was peaceful because Jane and Rebecca wanted it to be.
