Lucien jolted upright.
There was no one else in the room. He scanned his surroundings, wondering if he was hallucinating.
Just beneath him, something caught his eye. There seems to be a faint glow.
A translucent cube pulsing with a soft gray hue hovered inches above the floor.
He crouched to inspect it. Lying next to the strange object was the bee he’d swatted earlier.
Lucien marveled at the cube. He was captivated by the tiny, shimmering star swirling within it.
Curious, Lucien reached out and picked up the cube.
A mechanical chime rang out and echoed like a flurry of system notifications.
