Chapter 621 - 644 A Very Big Fake Diamond
Before the charity auction, some people also donate items. Since John Brown and his friends were here, they figured they should also contribute something and went to join the queue.
"Oh, Emily Jenkins, are you also donating something?" A voice filled with disdain rang out beside them—the very same Jessica Smith who had provoked Sarah Grandy and Grace Lopez during lunch; she was standing with a man by her side.
"Oh, isn’t this old man here? Have you thought over what we discussed?" Sarah Grandy immediately mimicked Jessica Smith’s tone and addressed the man.
The man’s name was John Berk. He gave a faint smile and said, "Young lady, I’ve thought it over. If you’re really interested, I’ll leave the door open for you tonight."
Jessica Smith raised her head, sneered and said, "Trying to trick my husband with such petty tricks? Do you think my husband’s an idiot or a fool?"
When these two thought it over, they realized they’d been outwitted by Sarah Grandy and Grace Lopez earlier. Now, when Sarah made another move, they wouldn’t fall for it.
Sarah Grandy chuckled, saying, "So you do have moments of intelligence after all."
Jessica Smith immediately boasted, "Of course!"
Sarah Grandy and Grace Lopez burst into laughter, and soon everyone was laughing too. Meanwhile, Jessica Smith was left completely clueless as to why everyone was laughing—had she said something wrong? John Berk frowned, feeling helpless with his clueless wife, and whispered in her ear, "She said we have moments of intelligence as a twist, meaning we’re usually fools. She’s indirectly insulting us."
Jessica Smith was infuriated upon hearing this, glaring as she said, "You little brat, are you looking for trouble?"
Sarah Grandy dismissively sneered and said, "If you dare touch me here, I’ll consider you gutsy."
Naturally, Jessica Smith didn’t dare. Causing trouble here would be too embarrassing. She snorted and said, "I’m too lazy to argue with a little brat like you. Hey, Emily, what are you donating? We’re doing charity here, we can’t be too stingy. At the very least, it should be something valuable, right?"
