Chapter 555 - 566: So It Was True
James Smith quickly stepped up to Uncle John, stopped, and extended his hand, wanting to shake hands with him. Normally, Uncle John should have stopped to shake hands too.
But who knew that Uncle John didn’t stop at all, he walked straight past him, completely ignoring him.
James Smith paused halfway through his hand gesture, unable to extend it further. He realized he misread the situation; Uncle John wasn’t headed for him at all. This was truly awkward, but no matter how embarrassed he felt, he didn’t dare say anything. Although his family had some influence, they were not on the same level as the Smith Family. Even if he had grievances, he couldn’t express them at all. More so, he didn’t position himself correctly; why would they bother coming over to shake hands with him?
Bitterly retracting his hand, James Smith slowly turned around, wondering whom Uncle John was greeting.
But at a glance, his eyes almost popped out. Uncle John was shaking hands with James Brown, and even patting James Brown’s shoulder with another hand, appearing quite affectionate.
This man was the fourth son of the Yawk Family, Steven Johnson. James Brown had met him before, and after visiting the Yawk Family, they had had meals together. James Brown’s performance at the Yawk Family had earned him acceptance. While they were not clear about James Brown’s abilities, given he could transfer Melody Yoody directly from Mayor to Deputy County Chief, they couldn’t help but take him seriously.
James Brown smiled at this moment: "Fourth Uncle, what a coincidence to meet you here."
Steven Johnson laughed heartily: "You rascal, coming to the City Center, why didn’t you come home for dinner?"
James Brown immediately said: "I went back last night, Fourth Uncle, you weren’t at home."
"Is that so, a shame really, I had some matters to attend to last night."
Watching the two chatting and laughing, Mrs. White and Mr. White didn’t feel much but thought James Brown’s Fourth Uncle was quite impressive.
