Chapter 470 - 480: Go See Daughter
"Boss, after our investigation, it’s 100% confirmed that the girl is your blood." As soon as the call connected, Martin Miller burst into laughter.
John Brown had already deduced that the girl was most likely his daughter based on the information he received from Lucy Campbell. Now, hearing Martin’s confirmation, he was no longer in doubt and asked, "How is she doing now?"
"Your daughter is currently being cared for by a young couple—the man is named John Smith, the woman is Lisa Johnson. Both are from the XM Region and studied at Capital of SSUP University of Foreign Languages. They’re a couple. After graduation, they couldn’t find jobs they liked, so they quit altogether. Now, their sole focus is looking after your daughter. Occasionally, money gets deposited into their bank account, but not often. The account numbers vary, but everything ultimately traces back to Emily Berns."
No wonder Emily has always believed John couldn’t find her daughter. This woman really has a knack for scheming, even using various means to transfer funds to the young couple. Of course, others might not trace it, but for Hawk Squad, it’s a piece of cake. However, John was no longer interested in such details and asked, "What about my daughter?"
"Our little princess is now three years and two months old. She just started kindergarten two months ago. She’s in Class Four, and her name is Emily Brown."
"What?" John was momentarily confused. Why does the daughter’s name sound similar to his?
"Haha, Emily Berns is seriously devoted to you, Boss. Only you could conquer someone as big a star as her—not only did she secretly give birth to your daughter, but she even named her Emily Brown, with ’Emily’ for ’memory’ and ’Brown’ for ’humility.’ Isn’t it obvious she’s reminiscing about you?"
This stirred upheaval in John’s heart. Naming the daughter Emily Brown certainly didn’t come off as a name born of resentment. If she hated him, she wouldn’t have chosen such a name. But he quickly negated this thought—back then, Emily Berns wouldn’t have known his name. Giving her daughter this name was simply an exceptional coincidence.
Still, whenever he thought of Emily Berns, John couldn’t shake a cautious discomfort. Why doesn’t he truly feel that she’s been good to him?
After hanging up the phone, Sarah Grandy grinned and teased John, "Uncle, are we going to pick up your daughter now?"
John nodded and said, "You heard everything."
