Chapter 404 - 411 Melody Yoody’s Rage
Melody Yoody showed an apologetic smile and said, "Mr. Carter Jr., don’t be so angry. I’ll apologize on James Brown’s behalf for this incident."
"You are apologizing for him?" Michael Wilson glanced at Melody Yoody, his expression turning even uglier.
Melody Yoody was deeply worried at this moment. She knew very well how powerful the Monaghan Family was. If Michael Wilson truly wanted to kill James Brown and given how powerless James Brown was to defend himself, even if she were willing to protect him, it would be utterly impossible. So at this juncture, the only option was to plead with Michael Wilson to quench his anger. She smiled warmly and said, "Mr. Carter Jr., you are such an esteemed figure of the Monaghan Family. How could you stoop to quarrel with an ordinary person? Wouldn’t that diminish your status?"
Michael Wilson suddenly smirked coldly and said, "So you know what kind of person I am? Yet you still associate yourself with this bastard. Are you trying to humiliate me?"
Melody Yoody felt a pang of bitterness inside. She bit her lip and said, "Mr. Carter Jr., I’m just a minor member of the Yawk Family, not some key figure of the Monaghan Family. I am fully aware I don’t deserve someone like you."
"Fine, fine. Yet, I happen to fancy you anyway. Don’t you want me to spare this punk? Alright. Then come with me right now, sleep with me tonight, and I’ll... spare this bastard." Michael Wilson didn’t even look at Melody Yoody while speaking those words. He stared directly at James Brown—he intended to return the humiliation he just suffered twofold.
Since there was supposed to be some illicit affair between James Brown and Melody Yoody, Michael Wilson chose to humiliate Melody Yoody publicly, knowing full well that the highest form of humiliation for a man was to demean the woman he cared about in his presence.
James Brown stood up, gazing sharply at Michael Wilson. His expression remained utterly calm. His mental maturity far exceeded Michael Wilson’s. If it was merely a few humiliating words, he could easily ignore them. But Michael Wilson dared to humiliate Melody Yoody—that was something James Brown wouldn’t let slide so easily.
Michael Wilson’s tone turned darker as he said, "Melody, you don’t have to agree. I, Michael Wilson, don’t necessarily need you. But... this bastard—heh—any woman I don’t want, no one else can have her. Whoever dares, I’ll take their life."
Melody Yoody had already turned pale with rage from Michael Wilson’s words. But considering James Brown’s safety, she clenched her fury tightly within. She forced a smile and said, "Mr. Carter Jr., please don’t be angry anymore. I promise not to associate with him ever again, and I’ll remain unmarried my whole life. How about that?"
Michael Wilson’s face lit up at the first part of Melody Yoody’s statement, but the second part enraged him further. Melody Yoody’s words implied that, no matter what happened, she wouldn’t marry him.
