Chapter 399 - 406 Leisure Time Amidst Busyness
When John Brown got home, it wasn’t even 10 o’clock yet. The one who opened the door was Emily Lopez. Her face lit up with surprise as she exclaimed, "Brother-in-law, weren’t you not coming home tonight?"
John Brown chuckled, "Being late is fine, but not coming home at night—that’s hardly the mark of a good man."
Emily Lopez yelped, "Ah, don’t tell me you’re going to give me a foot massage again tonight?"
John Brown had completely forgotten about this, but her exaggerated cry left him amused yet speechless. Clearly, she was reminding him on purpose, using such hysterics as a show meant for Gina Lopez.
Just then, Gina Lopez had already come out. She too seemed visibly pleased about John Brown returning home. Though she had created an opportunity for John to spend time with Sunny Nguyen tonight, she hadn’t expected him to come back. However, in front of her sister, she wasn’t comfortable showing her true feelings. Instead, she shot Emily Lopez an annoyed glance and said, "What are you yelling for? Your brother-in-law’s doing it for your good, and you act like it’s some kind of massive torment."
Emily Lopez pursed her lips and said, sounding very wronged, "Fine, I’ll go soak my feet now, okay?"
John Brown watched as Emily Lopez raced to the bathroom with energy. There wasn’t a shred of "wronged" behavior in her—it was clearly eagerness, which made John smile.
Gina Lopez and John Brown settled onto the living room sofa. The happiness in her expression was now uncontrollable. She spoke up, "Why’d you decide to come back anyway?"
"Isn’t this my home? As a husband, how could I not come home at night to accompany my wife?" John Brown wrapped his arm gently around Gina Lopez’s shoulders.
Gina Lopez leaned naturally against his shoulder. Earlier, she had been feeling jealous thinking about John spending time with Sunny Nguyen, but all those sour sentiments vanished instantly. She softly said, "You really are a wonderful husband."
"With an amazing wife like you, how could I not try to be a good husband?"
