The Supreme Soldier in the City

Chapter 228 - 229: Your Choice

"Gina, go outside, you’re not needed here," James Brown said as he grabbed Gina Lopez’s shoulders and pushed her out to prove his point once again.

Gina reflexively struggled, glanced outside, then twisted her body and said, "Alright, I’m going out. You do your thing." Then she quickly walked out.

Gina’s reaction once again confirmed James Brown’s suspicion that she did not like him and did not genuinely want to be with him.

Since Gina didn’t truly like him, James Brown could easily guess her intention, which was still because of Grace Lopez. Because Grace had developed feelings for him, Gina wanted to avoid such a situation—it wasn’t that she thought James was not good enough, but things like these happening at home were too awkward. First, he was her boyfriend and then her sister’s; it’d be too hard to explain to their parents.

That meant Gina didn’t necessarily have to be with him, just as long as he wasn’t with Grace, that would be enough.

Understanding this, James Brown became more composed in dealing with Gina. Knowing that she had no true feelings for him, he felt less burdened—it could be acting, or just a game, it was all for fun anyway.

After preparing a lavish dinner, the five of them sat together, eating and drinking happily. Initially, James wanted to leave after dinner, but Gina’s formidable mother immediately stopped him, her face stern, "Gina just came back from a business trip; how can you two be separated? You’re staying together tonight."

Though not put very directly, Gina and James could clearly read between the lines—the intention was to hurry them into the same bed, to get a grandchild. This embarrassed Gina greatly, while James found it rather amusing and pretended to be troubled, "This house isn’t big enough, I wouldn’t fit if I stayed."

Gina’s mom immediately retorted, "What do you mean it’s not big enough? I’ll sleep in one room with Sandra, and let the old man sleep on the couch."

James hurriedly said, "That won’t do, let me sleep on the couch."

Gina’s mom glared, "Why the couch? No, you must stay with Gina."
