The Supreme Soldier in the City

Chapter 221 - 222 Fearless Without a Background

"Joseph Smith, don’t you see how many reports of this kind of thing are all over the internet? One misstep and if this gets out online, you’ll be in deep trouble." Chris Smith could only earnestly persuade Joseph Smith, terrified that he would drag his mother into this.

Joseph Smith sneered disdainfully, "So what about the internet? With one word from my dad, all the posts will be deleted."

Chris Smith inwardly cursed Joseph Smith for his ignorance. It’s true that the Public Security Bureau could delete posts, but once these posts are out there, before they are taken down, they’re bound to get caught by some reporters. By then, if these reports spread, deleting posts would be futile. If netizens start making a ruckus, even if it’s not enough to really have them locked up, it will at least cause them quite a headache.

But he saw no need to explain this to Joseph Smith because this guy simply wouldn’t listen. So he said, "You stay here and wait for a bit; I’ll go have a word with them, see what their backgrounds are. If they hold significant influence, then we’ll need to weigh our options. If they are nobodies, then we can deal with them later to vent your anger."

Joseph Smith might be a fool, but he understood the importance of connections. What Chris Smith was doing was already giving him a lot of face. It wasn’t possible for Chris Smith to do whatever he said.

After pacifying Joseph Smith, Chris Smith walked into the room with a police officer where James Brown and the others were.

After taking a seat, Chris Smith looked at James Brown and asked some basic questions about his name and age, then inquired, "Family relations."

James Brown was quite familiar with the Public Security System and knew this wasn’t a question that should be asked. He smiled lightly and said, "Do you really need to ask that?"

Chris Smith appeared slightly embarrassed, yet still kept a stern face and said, "Answer whatever you’re asked."

James Brown calmly lit a cigarette and said, "No father, no mother, so no family relations to speak of."

Chris Smith frowned at once; no parents meant no background. But he still didn’t dare to take it lightly and asked, "Where do you work now?"
