The Supreme Soldier in the City

Chapter 167 Ran Away Again

After a busy day, James Brown finally got home a little past six. As soon as he opened the door, Emma Campbell greeted him wearing a small apron, with her hair tied back in a ponytail and dressed in a petite nightgown that looked both elegant and cute.

Emma took his shoes and bent down to help James change into them. "Big Brother Brown, come in and rest a bit. I’ve prepared the meal. I’ll start cooking right away, and dinner will be ready soon."

James did not object and let Emma help him with his shoes. It was not that he did not respect Emma; he knew she liked doing it. For Emma, it was a form of happiness, and for him, it was equally heartwarming.

"Emma, I’ve been wearing shoes all day, and my feet are smelly, yet you still help me change them," James said to Emma as soon as she stood up, asking with a smile.

Emma chuckled sweetly and replied, "It’s normal for men’s feet to stink. Just wash them. My dad’s feet are much smellier. If I don’t force him, he won’t even wash them, which is really unbearable."

James laughed heartily. "It seems I’m treated much better than your dad."

Emma blushed, sighed deeply, and said, "Just the thought of my dad makes me worry. I’m afraid he will cause so much trouble for me in the future."

Patting Emma on the shoulder, James said, "Don’t worry, I’m here for you."

Emma gave a wry smile and said, "I’m afraid that knowing you are here will just encourage him to bother you more."

James laughed again and said, "Well, having a father-in-law come to me is normal."

This immediately brightened Emma’s mood, but she still said, "If he really comes to you, please don’t entertain him, or he’ll never stop bothering you."
