Chapter 163: Let’s Be Friends
Emily Jenkins took a rest at James Brown’s house for a while, then gave James a mischievous smile and said, "Big Brother Brown, I know when to take a hint—I’ll get out of your way so I won’t disturb your alone time."
"Go on, go on." James smiled and waved his hand without asking Emily to stay.
Emily laughed merrily and then skipped away from James’s house.
At that moment, Emma Campbell just finished washing the clothes and came out, only to find herself alone with James. Her face suddenly turned red, and she twisted the hem of her clothes and said softly, "Has Sister Jenkins left?"
"She has, must be tired. Come sit down and rest for a bit," James gestured for Emma to come over.
Emma took tiny steps and sat next to James, though there was still some distance between them.
James took a lychee and said, "Here, have a lychee; they’re really fresh this season."
"Thank you, Big Brother Brown." Emma took the lychee, slowly peeled it, and gently popped it into her mouth. It was cool and refreshing, not just the sweetness of the lychee, but her heart felt even sweeter, clearly feeling that James was especially nice to her today.
James smiled slightly and personally peeled another lychee for Emma, handing it to her, "Why so formal? You’ve done so much around my house, and I haven’t even thanked you yet."
By then, Emma’s heart was as sweet as honey, feeling like she was in a dream. Holding the lychee James peeled, she found herself unable to eat it for a long time.
"Why aren’t you eating?" James asked with confusion.
